Emir to patronise QU graduation ceremony
His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani will patronise the graduation ceremony of Qatar University’s 40th batch of male students, due to be held this morning at Qatar National Convention Centre. Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim al-Thani, wife of His Highness the Emir, will patronise the graduation ceremony of the female students tomorrow.

Emir holds phone talk with Nigerian president
His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani yesterday evening held a phone talk with Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari. The phone call dealt with relations of co-operation and friendship between the two countries and ways to develop them, as well as issues of common concern.

Greetings to Uganda on I-Day anniversary
His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and His Highness the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani yesterday sent cables of congratulations to Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on the anniversary of his country’s Independence Day. HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani sent a similar cable to Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda.

Drop in temperature, strong winds forecast
The country is likely to experience windy conditions over the weekend along with a drop in temperature, the Qatar Met department has said. The weather office has also issued a warning for strong winds and high seas in offshore areas during the weekend. It said weather charts indicate that the country will be affected by fresh to strong northwesterly winds from tomorrow noon. The wind speed is expected to increase over the weekend.
