The pace of the Public Work Authority's (Ashghal) projects should be accelerated in line with the directives of His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani so as to implement Qatar's national plans regarding infrastructure, HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani instructed on Thursday.
He has highlighted the necessity of timely completion of all major infrastructural, residential and other strategic projects across the country, while reviewing the progress of different projects at a meeting held at Ashghal headquarters in the presence of senior officials.
"The delivery of major projects on time would help Qatar achieve a real legacy for the future generations," he said while seeking the co-operation and wholehearted involvement of Ashghal officials to also ensure the completion of works in different areas coming under Citizens Residential Development programme.
It was informed at the meeting that Ashghal had already completed and handed over the infrastructure of 1,466 lands under the Citizens Residential Development programme earlier this quarter. The infrastructure development works to 1,829 plots were in the final stages and they would be delivered to their owners before the end of the year. 
At the meeting, the Prime Minister was also briefed on the progress attained in different projects. This included the progress sheet of those projects to be completed this year and others under different stages of construction. The officials also explained about the projects to be executed in the next few years.
Discussions were also held on several projects which were completed during this year. It was told that as many as 38 different projects were accomplished in 2017 and at least 66 more are expected to be completed before December 31. 
While reviewing the progress, the officials also informed Sheikh Abdullah about the progress of such major works as the Orbital Highway, Lusail Expressway, the development of the southern areas of the Doha Expressway (Al Wakrah bypass), G-Ring Road, Rawdat Al-Khail road extension, development of Dukhan Expressway, and Al Rayyan Expressway development (Phase 1 and 2).
While thanking the Prime Minister for the attention he pays for the timely completion of various infrastructural projects, Ashghal president Engineer Saad bin Ahmed al-Muhannadi said the Public Works Authority and its officials are extremely happy at the close monitoring of the progress of different works. 
"It demonstrates the importance of each of these projects, whether it is concerning with the infrastructural services to the residents or the economic and urban development it provides to Qatar in general."
