His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, His Highness the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani and HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani sent yesterday cables of congratulations to German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier on the occasion of his country’s National Day.
Minister meets French envoy
HE the Minister of Culture and Sports Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser al-Ali met yesterday with French ambassador to Qatar Eric Chevallier. The meeting reviewed the co-operation relations between both countries and the means of strengthening and developing them in the cultural and sports fields.

Estonia president receives Qatari envoy’s papers
Estonian President Kersti Kaljulaid has received the credentials of Fahd bin Mohammed al-Attiyah, as non-resident ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Qatar to that country.
The ambassador conveyed His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani’s greetings to the Estonian president, wishing her and the people of Estonia further progress and prosperity.
For her part, the Estonian president entrusted the Qatari ambassador with her greetings to His Highness the Emir and her wishes of further development and prosperity to the Qatari people.
The President wished the Qatari ambassador success in his new duties to push forwards the friendship and co-operation relations between Qatar and Estonia.

Ministry celebrates Teachers’ Day
The Ministry of Education and Higher Education, under the patronage of HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani, will celebrate tomorrow Teachers’ Day at the Qatar National Convention Centre.
The celebration will award 100 of the oldest teachers in Qatar, in recognition for all their effort and contribution in the educational field. Qatar annually celebrates this day in line with World Teachers’ Day set by Unesco to be held yearly on October 5, in recognition of their role as a pillar of the educational process.

Chevrolet model recalled over safety concern
The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC), in collaboration with Jaidah automotive, has announced the recall of Chevrolet Silverado model of 2014 over a defect in the power steering control module.
The MEC said the recall campaign comes within the framework of its ongoing efforts to protect consumers and ensure that car dealers follow up on vehicles’ defects and repair them.
The MEC said that it will co-ordinate with the dealer to follow up on the maintenance and repair works and will communicate with customers to ensure that the necessary repairs are carried out.
