Qatar Swimming Association has completed all preparations to host the 5th round of the FINA/airweave Swimming World Cup, which will be held tomorrow and Thursday at Hamad Aquatics Center with the participation of 153 swimmers from around the world.
Delegations participating in the championship have started to arrive in Doha. The South African team was the first to arrive with their star swimmer Chad Le Clos. The Hungarian team, with the world champion Katinka Hosszu, and teams of Russia, Germany, Jamaica, Poland, USA, Netherlands, Australia and Iran too have arrived. Some of the FINA board members were received too. The rest of the delegations will be in Doha by today.
Qatar will be represented in the 5th FINA/Airweave Swimming World Cup by 12 swimmers.
The FINA airweave Swimming World Cup 2017 includes eight legs in the Middle East, Europe and Asia. This year, the competition kicked off on August 2 in Moscow and will conclude on November 19 in Singapore. Berlin, Hong Kong, Doha, Beijing, and Tokyo complete the list of host cities for 2017.
Le Clos claimed two silvers and a gold, in 50m butterfly, at the Hong Kong leg on Saturday.
“That’s four years undefeated now in the 50m fly short course. The last time I lost was Doha 2013,” said Le Clos.
