The Ministry of Municipality and Environment's (MME) Agriculture Research Department planted three date palms at the South Korean embassy in Doha.

The date palms gifted by the MME, were planted in the presence of the South Korean ambassador Park Heung-kyeong, Agriculture Research Department director Massoud Jarallah al-Marri and a number of other officials from the embassy as well as the MME.
Al-Marri stressed that the event is part of the co-operation between Qatar and South Korea, within the Higher Joint Committee for strategic co-operation between the two countries, which cover many fields including agriculture.
He explained that there are a number of memorandums of understanding between the two countries being prepared in the fields of fisheries, and agriculture, in particular greenhouses and smart farming, which would introduce new technologies suitable for Qatar's climate and nature.
"The gifting of these date palms is an expression of the strong and fruitful relationships between the two countries," al-Marri said while adding that there will be meetings in November in Korea that would gather the various technical teams of the two countries in the fields of agriculture and industrial economy and other commercial activities.
In addition, a high level meeting will be held in Doha in December, headed by HE the Minister of Energy and Industry to complete the various aspects of co-operation between the two countries.
The South Korean envoy thanked the MME for the gift and hoped for more co-operation between the two countries, especially in the agriculture field.
