Koh returns for Al Rayyan

Al Rayyan will welcome back South Korean midfielder Koh Myong-jin (right) to their squad, ahead of their clash against Al Duhail on Friday. Koh was absent from his side’s 3-1 victory over Al Kharaitiyat after serving a one-match suspension for the red card he picked up in Rayyan’s opening game against Al Khor. The return of the tough tackling midfielder will be a real boost for Lions boss Michael Laudrup ahead of their match against one of the toughest sides in the league in Duhail. The Danish coach will be hoping to guide his side to three straight wins to start the season, and to further underline Rayyan’s title ambitions.

Al-Buraiki set to return for Al Khor



QNB Stars League side Al Khor could welcome back two key players ahead of their round three encounter against Al Kharaitiyat, which is set to take place on Friday evening. Club officials confirmed that the Knights will welcome back Naif al-Buraiki into the squad, after serving his one-match ban after being sent off in his side’s opening game against Al Rayyan. Club officials also revealed that midfielder Hilal Mohamed could play after missing the last two weeks due to injury. Al Khor medical staff will make an assessment on the young winger in the coming days, but indications are likely that Mohamed will be available for his side.

Qatar golf team to participate in three championships
The Qatar Golf Association will have a season full of local and foreign championships besides organising the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters Championship. The Qatar golf team will participate in the Asian Championship in New Zealand from October 26-29, the Nomura Cup (Asian Golf Team Championships) in Malaysia from November 8-11 and the participation of the Youth and Women teams in the Arab Championship in Tunisia from November 16-18. On the local level, Qatar Golf Association will organise the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters Championship from January 22-25, 2018, the Qatar Golf Open from January 25-27, the Bonallack and Hankins Cup for Men and Women from March 8-10, Qatar Youth Open in April and the Ramadan Gold Tournament (Men — Youth) in May.

FINA/Airweave Swimming World Cup preparations continue
The Qatar Swimming Association (QSA) continued preparations to host the FINA/Airweave Swimming World Cup (25m) in Doha from October 4-5, 2017, at the Hamad Aquatics Complex, the event’s host venue for the sixth consecutive year. QSA executive director Mohamed al-Sheeb said preparations are under way to host the tournament, which is one of the most important FINA competitions and attracts top world elite and swimmers. He pointed out that the Olympic swimming pool, where the tournament will be held is ready for participants to hold their training, which is scheduled to begin on October 2. Al Sheeb added that areas designated for fans were determined under the supervision of the Organising Committee, and that fans can book tickets through the Q-Tickets website.
