Doha: QNB Stars League side Al Sadd have been awarded a 3-0 victory in their opening game of the season against Al Markiya, following a decision made by the Qatar Football Association Disciplinary committee.
The decision has been made in relation to Al Markhiya fielding an ineligible player Salah al-Yahri in the match which they won 2-1 in the opening round of the QNB Stars League season. The verdict means that the previous result is now void, and that Al Sadd won the game 3-0.
The disciplinary committee also imposed a fine of QR10,000 on Markiya. Al Sadd, captained by Xavi, are set to take on Al Sailiya in their second match today, while Al Markhiya are set to play fellow promoted side Qatar SC this weekend.
