Emir condemns London bombing
His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and His Highness the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani have sent cables to Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II and Prime Minister Theresa May in which they expressed strong condemnation of the terrorist bombing that took place in the subway station in southwest London, and stressed Qatar’s firm position rejecting terrorism regardless of motives or reasons, wishing the wounded a speedy recovery. HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani has also sent similar a cable to the British Prime Minister.

Emir congratulates Mexican president
His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, His Highness the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani and HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani sent yesterday cables of congratulations to Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto on the anniversary of his country’s Independence Day.

Attack on Nato convoy in Afghanistan slammed
Qatar has strongly condemned the attack on a military convoy of Nato in southern Afghanistan, which resulted in the death of a soldier and the injury of two others.
In a statement yesterday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated Qatar’s firm stance rejecting violence and terrorism regardless of motives and reasons. It expressed Qatar’s condolences to the victim’s family and wished speedy recovery to the injured.

QFA chief meets FIFA president
Qatar Football Association (QFA) president HE Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed al-Thani met in Zurich yesterday with FIFA president Gianni Infantino during his official visit to the FIFA headquarters. During the meeting, the two sides discussed common topics relating to football at all levels. Infantino stressed the depth of the relationship between FIFA and QFA, especially that Qatar will organise the 2022 FIFA World Cup. For his part, the QFA chief extended thanks to the FIFA president for his good reception and for the positive handling of the various files discussed during the visit.
