Guests and visitors at the World Tourism Day (WTD) celebrations in Doha are assured of “a memorable and authentic Qatari experience” with the support of Katara Hospitality, Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) has said.
Named as the hospitality partner for the celebration, Katara Hospitality has a portfolio of 42 hotels spread across three continents in Qatar, Egypt, Morocco, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Singapore and Thailand.
“The support of Qatar’s foremost hospitality stakeholder to the World Tourism Day celebrations demonstrates their commitment to developing a sustainable and vibrant tourism industry in Qatar,” QTA’s chief tourism development officer Hassan al-Ibrahim said in a statement.
The celebration next month is being held under the patronage of Qatar’s Prime Minister and Interior Minister HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani.
According to QTA, WTD is expected to gather hundreds of tourism industry stakeholders from around the world at the Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Hotel to explore tourism’s role in sustainable development.
The hotel has a prime position in the West Bay area of Doha with an impressive style, cutting-edge amenities and facilities cater to today’s international traveller.
“We are pleased to partner with QTA for the World Tourism Day to promote the contribution of travel and tourism to the global economy,” Katara Hospitality CEO Hamad Abdulla al-Mulla said.
“As a key driver of Qatar’s diversification, as well as the third largest export industry in the world, tourism plays a highly significant role in sustainable development, both socially and economically,” he added.
Al-Mulla noted that Katara Hospitality, together with QTA, is looking forward to bringing together industry partners from across the world to celebrate continual pursuit of sustainability.
WTD is the official day set aside in the United Nations’ calendar to highlight tourism’s contribution to some of the most pressing challenges society is faced with today.
This year, the celebrations will be held under the theme ‘Sustainable Tourism – A Tool for Development’. It will be the platform for the launch of the Next Chapter of the Qatar National Tourism Sector Strategy 2030.
