PM sends message to First VP of Sudan
HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani sent yesterday a written message to Sudan’s First Vice President and Prime Minister, Lieutenant General Bakri Hassan Saleh, pertaining to relations between the two fraternal countries and means of boosting them. Qatar’s ambassador to Sudan, Rashid bin Abdulrahman al-Nuaimi, handed the message when the Sudanese official met him yesterday.

Qatar slams storming
of Al-Aqsa Mosque
Qatar has strongly denounced the storming of Israeli Knesset members and settlers into the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. In a statement the Foreign Ministry described the step as “dangerous and provocative to the feelings of millions of Muslims around the world”. The statement warned of the repercussions of repeated Israeli practices and attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque and called on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities to stop them immediately.

Strong condemnation for Kabul explosion
Qatar voiced its strong condemnation of the explosion that occurred in front of a bank near the US embassy in the Afghan capital of Kabul, leaving a number of people killed and wounded. In a statement issued yesterday, the Foreign Ministry reiterated Qatar’s firm stance in rejection of violence and terrorism whatever their motives and reasons. It expressed Qatar’s condolences to the families of the victims as well as the government and people of Afghanistan and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

Qatar Charity to help Myanmar refugees
Qatar Charity is preparing urgent aid projects for refugees in Myanmar, including establishing shelters and distributing food baskets. The organisation said yesterday in a statement that its latest campaign aims to help those displaced in Myanmar and living in difficult conditions after the villages and houses were burnt, forcing them to leave. The statement said that those affected were in desperate need for food and shelter, in addition to clothing and healthcare, particularly in light of the developments of the past few days.
