Qatar Museums (QM) has appointed Fuad al-Mudahka as acting director of the much anticipated 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum.
Al-Mudahka joins QM from Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) where he developed his leadership capabilities and a deep knowledge and understanding of sports and the sports industries – making him the ideal candidate to succeed in the role.
At AZF, al-Mudahka held a variety of senior management positions, gaining invaluable experience and building on training received during programmes organised by the Emiri Diwan. As a successful athlete, he also represented Qatar in a variety of sporting events including swimming. He is a passionate about ancient and historic sports, including horseback archery.
Al-Mudahka received his degree in sports science and is the author of a number of scientific papers in a variety of reputable publications.
The news is further evidence of QM’s success in supporting the career progression of talented Qataris in a bid to develop, promote and sustain the cultural sector to the highest standards and fulfil the cultural goals of the 2030 Qatar National Vision.
The 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum will transport visitors through thousands of years of sports history with unforgettable exhibits, objects that tell inspiring stories, state-of-the-art displays, and unique activity areas.
The museum is designed to educate and entertain whilst igniting a passion and enthusiasm for sport in all those who visit. From personal testimonies that explain the history of sport in Qatar to interactive simulators, the museum presents a vast array of objects, artefacts and exhibits – all demonstrating how sport and Qatar are intrinsically linked.
Museum galleries will take visitors through various sports popular in antiquity, the history of the Olympic Games, from its ancient origins to modern times, and the development of sport in Qatar. “I’m thrilled to accept this unique challenge of delivering the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum, which showcases the country’s progress as a leading cultural hub and which promises to be a unique and inspiring environment for all who visit,” al-Mudahka said. “It’s a huge honour to be involved and I’m looking forward to working closely with my team to ensure the museum fully lives up to its potential,” he added.
QM has made considerable progress in recent years in identifying and nurturing talented professionals. It invests considerable time and resources both inside and outside the organisation in supporting such individuals, helping them to flourish. Such progress has been achieved through the success of initiatives such as QReation Generation – a high-level professional development programme designed to shape the future arts and cultural leaders of QM, Qatar and the region.
