The Qatar Sailing and Rowing Federation (QSRF) will participate in a huge number of international events during the 2017-2018 sports season.
The QSRF board of directors under the leadership of Abdulla al-Sulaiti announced a busy calendar for the season.
The Qatari sailing team will hold two training camps in Dominican Republic and France in light of their preparations for the 2017 World Laser Radial Championship to be staged from September 12-19.
Qatar will also take part in the 2017 Asian Sailing Championship to be staged in Indonesia in November and Laser Europa Cup 2017 to be held in Croatia in late December.
The State of Qatar will be represented by four sailors including Hassan al-Tamimi, Fares al-Bakri, Abdulrahmam al-Nasr and Ali al-Muftah.
Commenting on the preparations of the Qatari sailors for the upcoming events, al-Tamimi said that the team will participate in some important events in these coming months.
“After returning from the United States of America, I won the 2017 Qatar International Sailing Championship and the 2017 GCC Sailing Championship held in Kuwait,” he said.
“Now, I’ m preparing for the upcoming events under the supervision of our coach Khalid Bettihthamou and alongside my teammates Fares al-Bakri, Abdulrahman al-Nasr and Ali al-Muftah,” he added.
For his part, Bettihthamou stressed the importance of the training camp to be held in Dominican Republic.
On the other hand, the Qatar rowing team will participate in two international rowing championships to be held in France in September and October.
Qazi Mohamed Haji, coach of Qatar rowing team, said that Tala Abujbara will attend the training camp to be held in France in preparation for the two international championships to be staged in the same country.
He said that having participated in many international events, Tala is one of the promising rowers for the country.
