The Primary health Care Corporation (PHCC) will implement the electronic file system at 60 public schools for the academic year 2017-2018 as part of its efforts to promote school health services, improve the physical and psychological health of students as well as to support their abilities.

PHCC had implemented electronic file system in 30 schools in the academic year 2016-2017. The system provides a comprehensive overview of patient history during medical counselling, facilitating the history of laboratory tests, radiation tests, and archive images, as well as accessing the medical file information of each student.
Dr Badriya al-Malki, assistant executive director for continuing care and integrated services at PHCC, said that 266 schools have been brought under the PHCC services so far, with 275 male and female nurses working at these schools.
Dr al-Malki said that PHCC is working with the plan to activate the basic role of primary health care in providing all the consultations and health services by nurses in all schools.
Dr al-Malki added that school nursing which is provided from the beginning of the school year to take care of nutrition, growth and chronic diseases among children, contributes to the assessment of the development and growth of students.
Buthayna al-Naqeeb, school nursing superviser at PHCC, pointed out that within the national programme to promote school health, a series of meetings were held between the PHCC team - school health, and officials of the Ministry of Public Health and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, to complete the implementation of the national programme to promote health.
