Bedaya Centre for Entrepreneurship and Career Development (Bedaya Centre), a joint initiative by Qatar Development Bank and Silatech, in collaboration with Qatar Scientific Club (QSC), has launched a new initiative dubbed ‘From Alpha to Beta’, it was announced in a statement.
The week-long event consists of diverse workshops on how to create and produce prototypes through fabrication labs of the QSC.
On the first day of the workshop, the attendees were given a guided tour of the QSC, during which the club’s sections were identified and introduced. The attendees also had the opportunity to talk to all the instructors responsible on those sections and specialised in different sectors.
On the following days and for nominal prices for each workshop, the participants were able to learn how to design, create, and produce products during workshops focusing on 3D design, how to use machinery, laser machines, 3D printing machines, as well cutting plotter machines and axial cutting machines.
Bedaya Centre general manager Reem al-Suwaidi said: “We have joined forces with Qatar Scientific Club to provide an opportunity for those wishing to learn how to make their initial models and prototypes through three specialised workshops distributed over three days offering all attendees the possibility to choose what fits their interests whether in industrial machinery or 3D production machines, or cutting machine (vinyl and axial) and hand tools and machines.”
QSC executive director Hareb al-Jabri said: “This is the first time we have hosted such an event with Bedaya Centre. Since our inception, we have strived to support the youth and young inventors by providing tools and opportunities for them to be able to implement their ideas and achieve them on the ground.
“Today, through our collaboration with Bedaya Centre and through the prototype week, which was highly-appreciated by all participants, we have moved an inch forward towards this goal. I am confident that this event will be the first step of effective co-operation with Bedaya Centre.”
