Emir discusses Gulf crisis with Italian premier
His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani held a telephone conversation with Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni.
During the phone call, they discussed the latest developments in the Gulf crisis and its repercussions on the region, and the efforts exerted to resolve it through diplomatic channels, as part of Kuwait’s mediation efforts, as well as a number of international issues of common concern.
The two sides also discussed  bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and ways of developing and strengthening them in various fields.
Meanwhile, HE the Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani separately held telephone conversations yesterday with US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson and French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian.
During the phone calls HE the Foreign Minister and three officials discussed bilateral relations and means of boosting and developing them, besides the developments of the Gulf crisis, and a number of issues of mutual interest.
On June 5, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt severed diplomatic and travel ties with Qatar, accusing it of supporting terrorism and being an ally of Iran, charges that Doha denies.
The International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) has asked all member states to abide by and comply with the Chicago Convention.
The directive was issued after the ICAO Council Extraordinary Session was held at the ministerial level in Montreal, Canada, yesterday to examine Qatar’s requirement.
Qatar has lodged a formal complaint with the World Trade Organisation’s Dispute Settlement Body against the  countries that have imposed a siege on Doha.

Kuwait continuing its mediation efforts
Kuwait has been continuing its mediation efforts between Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt on one hand and Qatar on the other to find a solution to the Gulf crisis, Kuwaiti Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled al-Jarallah stressed on Sunday. Everyone are pinning big hopes on efforts by the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah in this matter, he said.
