A Turkish passenger plane on Thursday returned from a runway at the Cairo airport after smoke filled its cabin, sources at the airport said.
The Turkish Airlines aircraft en route to Istanbul was preparing for takeoff when the smoke resulting from an unspecified technical problem entered the cabin, the sources said on condition of anonymity.
"The passengers were evacuated from the plane and the flight cancelled until the problem is fixed or an alternative airliner is provided," one source said. No casualties were reported.
There were 213 passengers on the flight.
