Al Arabi have confirmed the successful transfer of Qatari international Khalfan Ibrahim from Al Sadd on a one year deal.
Khalfan is one of the biggest stars in Qatari football and began his career with Al Arabi in 1998.
He then moved to Al Sadd in 2004 and since then has contributed a great deal to the teams’ success over the course of his career, he was also awarded the best player award in the 2013 season.
Following the signing, Khalfan Ibrahim said that, “I return to Al Arabi where I grew up, and I would like to thank the club officials for the confidence they had in me and I hope to be an asset for the team.”
The Qatari former Asian Player of the Year will now join the Dream Team on their pre-season training camp in Slovenia from July 31 to August 26.
Ibrahim, one of Qatar’s best players ever, had an indifferent season last year when he missed most of Al Sadd’s matches because of an injury.
“Al Arabi have one of the biggest fan bases in Qatar and I hope they will come out in large numbers and support our team,” he said.
“I grew up here and I played for the club early in my career. I wish them the best and hope they win some trophies.
Khalfan said he is indebted to his fans for the support they have given him.
“I owe a lot to them. They have supported me all through my career. I look forward to the new season and I thank the club officials for their support.”
