HE Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani met yesterday with US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Acting Information Minister of Kuwait, Sheikh Mohammed al-Abdullah al-Mubarak al-Sabah, during their visit to Qatar. During the meeting, they discussed the Gulf crisis and the mediation efforts of Kuwait as well as the results of the US Secretary of State’s visit to Jeddah. “We appreciate the mediation efforts led by Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah, and the support provided by the United States to reach a diplomatic solution to the current crisis,” the Foreign Minister told Qatar News Agency after the meeting. “Qatar reiterates its firm position that it is always open to constructive dialogue to resolve any disputes between states. This crisis can only be resolved through dialogue based on the principles of mutual respect and the sovereignty of states in accordance with the provisions of international law and the State of Qatar is ready to discuss all the demands presented by the four countries and their evidence based on these grounds,” he added.
