The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME)’s Agriculture Quarantine Office inspected 6,114 consignments of imported farm produce weighing around 294,364 tonnes at various ports in the country in June.
Of these, 102 consignments weighing around 16.9 tonnes were destroyed for being infected with bugs, while one consignment weighing 20 tonnes was inspected for export. A number of plant health certificates were also issued, according to a statement.
Meanwhile, Al Wakrah Municipality’s Health Control Section conducted inspection tours during the recent Eid holidays to ensure the safety of food available at different outlets. The Health Control Section has also destroyed around 60kg of fish at the Al Wakrah Fish Market as they were found unfit for human consumption. 
Similarly, Al Daayen Municipality has conducted intensive search campaigns at food outlets during the Eid holidays. These resulted in the issuance of 60 warnings and detection of two violations. Affidavits from the violators were also received.
Also, Al Khor and Al Thakhira Municipality’s Health Control Section intensified its inspection campaigns at food establishments during the Eid holidays. The personnel destroyed 420kg of fish, which was found unfit for human consumption, as well as 1,450kg of different foodstuff for the same reason.
The Health Control Section of Doha Municipality conducted 171 inspection tours during the Eid holidays at various locations within its jurisdiction.
The campaign resulted in the issuance of one violation report. The campaign covered different food outlets to ensure the safety of the  products on display and that workers there were complying with relevant food safety and hygiene regulations.
