Emir congratulates Iraq on defeating terrorists
His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani sent yesterday a cable of congratulations to Iraq President Fuad Masum and Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi on the victories of the Iraqi armed forces and security forces which led to them taking control of the City of Mosul. The Emir stressed Qatar’s solidarity with Iraq in their fight against terrorism and its continuing support to regional and international efforts in fighting terrorism in all forms, as well as eliminating its causes from the roots. FM in phone talk with Ukrainian counterpart
HE the Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani held yesterday a conversation via telephone with his Ukrainian counterpart Pavlo Klimkin. They discussed bilateral relations and the means to enhance them, besides the recent developments in the GCC.

Minister demands right of passage at ICAO meet
HE the Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Seif Ahmed al-Sulaiti has discussed with the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO)’s secretary-general Qatar’s fair demands for the right of passage at a meeting in Montreal yesterday. The minister urged the blockading countries to respect the law as well as the signed agreements, which had been respected by Qatar only, the Ministry of Transport and Communications said last night.

Maersk launches a new direct service
Leading global shipping line Maersk has launched a new direct service between Hamad Port in Qatar and Salalah Port in Oman, Qatar Ports Management Company (Mwani Qatar) announced in a tweet yesterday. The launch of new shipping services between Hamad Port and Sohar and Salalah ports in Oman is expected to enhance the import of food commodities, according to officials.
