The Ministry of Interior participated yesterday in the Eid al-Fitr celebrations of Ehsan Centre for Empowerment and Elderly Care.
HE the Director General of Public Security at the Ministry of Interior Major General Saad bin Jassim al-Khulaifi, and Assistant General Director for General Directorate of Industrial Security Khalifa Mohamed al-Attiyah visited the centre yesterday and gave flowers and gifts to the elderly to put a smile on their faces and help give them a sense of connection with police personnel during this joyful occasion.
The Director General of Public Security at the Ministry of Interior expressed his happiness at spending the first day of Eid with the centre’s residents, stressing on the importance of supporting the centre and forming a bond with the elderly.
Al-Khulaifi praised Ehsan Centre for the example it sets in how to deal with the elderly, saying that the visit was a small attempt to pay back the favour and to express the appreciation of the efforts made by the older generation.
He stressed that the Ministry of Interior is keen on enhancing its partnership with all segments of the society, particularly the elderly.
Al-Attiyah congratulated the centre’s resident on the advent of Eid al-Fitr.
He noted that the visit is part of more comprehensive efforts by the Ministry of Interior to take care of the elderly.
It was also an aspect of the Ministry’s social responsibility towards all segments of society, al-Attiyah added.
The Assistant General Director for General Directorate of Industrial Security said that the visit was also to prove to the older generation that they were not segregated from the Qatari society, but a part of it that is a source of pride.
He added that the Ministry is always looking to provide more support to the elderly in order to help them get a sense of fulfilment for their years of service to the country and its development efforts. - QNA
