The United Nations Committee on Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) awarded the Special Consultative Status in the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) to Education Above All (EAA) and Qatar Foundation for Social Action during its session, which began at the UN headquarters in New York on May 22.
The selection of the Education Above All (EAA) comes as an acknowledgement of its outstanding role in promoting education, especially its projects in Syria and with
Syrian refugees.
EAA has also provided education services in more than 50 countries around the world.
The recognition of Qatar Foundation for Social Action by the UN is also a culmination of its efforts in the field of humanitarian and charitable work.
Winning the Special Consultative Status in the UN ECOSOC by the two organisations represents an addition to the achievements made by a number of Qatari organisations and institutions, which were granted the Special Consultative Status to the UN, reflecting the confidence of the international community and the United Nations in the role and effectiveness of Qatari NGOs in the field of education and humanitarian work within the role played by civil society organisations in the State of Qatar.
