Paraguay announced its support to the candidacy of HE the Adviser at the Emiri Diwan and Qatar’s candidate for the post for director general at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz al-Kuwari.
Foreign Minister of Paraguay Eladio Loizaga said that the support for Qatar’s candidate is a culmination of the strong relations between the two countries at all levels – political, economic and cultural. He praised Qatar’s experience and standing in the international community, its interest in Unesco and the nomination of a prominent figure at the international level of the organisation.
HE Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz al-Kuwari thanked Paraguay for its confidence and support, adding that he needs to co-operate and work with officials in this country to carry out his mission.
During his visit to Paraguay, the Qatari candidate also met the country’s Minister of Education and Science Enrique Riera, and Minister of Culture of Paraguay Fernando Griffith who welcomed and reaffirmed his country’s support for the Qatari candidate.
