Katara will be the official guest of honour at the 2018 forum in Kuwait, Arab Media Forum secretary-general Madi al-Khamis has announced.
The press conference was held at the Cultural Village in the presence of Katara general manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti, al-Khamis and other individuals interested in cultural and media activities.
Dr al-Sulaiti expressed pleasure at the initiative and praised the partnership between Katara and the Arab Media Forum, which resulted in the signing of a co-operation agreement between the two institutions in April as Katara took part in the 14th session of the forum in Kuwait.
The discussions dealt with media culture, positive messages and the social responsibility of the media.
He pointed out that the issues of culture and information are at the centre of Katara’s concerns and at the forefront of the activities the Cultural Village is keen to organise.
On his part, al-Khamis said: “The choice of Katara – the Cultural Village as the official guest of honour for the next session, which will be organised in Kuwait next year, is based on the prestigious international standing of Katara as a global cultural beacon as well as the cultural renaissance witnessed by the State of Qatar.” Culture and the media characterise the renaissance, he noted.
