Finland’s Prime Minister Juha Sipila has hailed the remarkable developments achieved by Qatar over the past 20 years, while pointing to growing bilateral relations and excellent channels of dialogue between his country and Qatar.
In an exclusive statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the sidelines of the 17th Doha Forum, Sipila said there are possibilities for further strengthening of relations between Qatar and Finland, especially in the area of trade, which is currently at a very low level.
The prime minister of Finland said direct flights between Doha and Helsinki have greatly helped in developing the relations between the two countries since they were launched in October 2016, hoping that they will further cement co-operation between companies from both countries.
He said that there are opportunities to boost relations between Qatar and Finland in other areas, such as clean technology, renewable energy, information and communication technology, and education.
As for the relations between Qatar and the European Union in which Finland is a member, the Finnish prime minister said that there is no problem hindering the development of relations between the two sides, stressing that the European Union respects and appreciates Qatar’s achievements and developments over the past 20 years.
Earlier HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani received  Finland’s Prime Minister Juha Sipila and his accompanying delegation yesterday. They reviewed bilateral relations and means of boosting them.
