The Kannada New Year (Vasanthotsava) was celebrated recently by Karnataka Sangha Qatar (KSQ) with pomp and gaiety at Delhi Public School auditorium. The celebrations witnessed rich cultural and entertainment shows in which Sandalwood (Kannada film) superstars, Srinath and Ravishankar participated.  
Swaramrutha, a musical band, staged Kan-Fusion, a blend of folk, classical and cine music impressing the audience. Dr V B Arathi, a scholar and a prolific orator, gave a scintillating speech on the ‘need to preserve our culture and language’.
Srinath, a veteran actor of more than 200 films hosted a live show, Adarsha Dampatigalu (Model Couples), for three pairs on the stage. Srinath shot to fame and became a household name while hosting thousands of episodes in a TV reality show.
Ravishankar, a popular multilingual star for his unique dialogue-delivery style, stole the show with rendering of dialogues from superhit Kanada film, Kempegowda in the character of Armugam and also with the terrific voice modulation from Telugu movie Arundhati.
Later, the audience danced to the tune of a Kannada film song sung by Ravishankar. Karnataka Sangha honoured Srinath with Kala Tapaswi title, while Ravishankar was conferred with title Prathibha Prakhara Nata Shiromani and Dr V B Arati was also honoured.
Usha Ravishankar, a prominent community leader, presided over the event who lauded the efforts of Karnataka Sangha in promoting and preserving the rich culture and language.
The local artistes presented a medley tribute to Srinath and Ravishankar from hit Kannada movie songs. The other highlight of the show was a dance presentation by Akshaya Shetty and team for a song composed by Ashwin P Kumar and written by KSQ President, H K Madhu.
KSQ also honoured Lakkappa Gowda and Akshaya Shetty for their services to the organisation. An audio CD titled Namma Hadu-Vol-1, a KSQ in-house composition, was released during the event. Chandan Sharma, main news anchor at BTV Kannada News channel compered the programme. H K Madhu, President, KSQ welcomed the gathering and vote of thanks was proposed by KSQ’s Cultural Secretary, Sunil Kamalaksha.
