The Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) is adopting different methods to nurture the local talent pool as it considers developing human capital is vital to a diversified and strong economy.
This was announced by QFC Authority chief executive Yusuf Mohamed al-Jaida while addressing 38 participants from the Qatar Leadership Centre’s (QLC) ‘Rising Leader Programme’, which is dedicated to developing leadership and management skills and enhancing the personal and professional development of Qatari professionals, who have shown excellence in their careers to date.
“We are pleased to host students from the Rising Leader Programme and give them an inside look into our entity and how we operate,” al-Jaida said.
Over the years, the QFC has sent some of its upcoming leaders to the QLC to further develop and enhance their skillset to meet the challenges of today’s business environment, he said, adding this is a clear example of the importance of the programme in establishing future leaders for the private sector.
Giving an overview of the Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Center (QICDRC), its chief executive Faisal al-Sahouti said QICDRC is a world-class specialised Qatari court which has jurisdiction to hear civil and commercial disputes for more than 300 companies worth more than QR75bn at the QFC.
“Our vision at QICDRC is that when the new law is finalised and approved, everybody from the local community to business entities will be able to see first-hand the impact it will have once utilised and enforced, making Qatar an international hub for dispute resolution,” he said.
The participants were also provided with a tour of the courtroom by registrar Christopher Grout, where he explained the role of the court and demonstrated its technological capabilities.
“As a QLC Rising Leader Programme graduate, I know first-hand the benefits and experience this programme delivers by developing professional, personal and leadership skills. My experience during the programme has provided me with a deep knowledge of techniques that helped fast track my career,” according to Fahad Zainal, QFC’s adviser to the chief executive. The QLC visit to QFC premises comes as part of the QFC’s continuous efforts to develop human capital as a driver for economic growth and prosperity in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.
