Al Meera’s Leaibab 2 branch is expected to open in the next few days, bringing its five-store expansion phase to fruition by the beginning of the second quarter this year, it was announced yesterday.
Six new shopping centres across various regions in Qatar, covering Al Khor, Umm Qarn, Rawdat Aba El Heran, Al Sailiya, Leaibab 1, and Azghawa will also be completed this year, according to a statement. The number of Al Meera stores in Qatar is expected to reach 50 by the end of 2017.
“We will continue working closely with the Ministry of Municipality and Environment to remain in line with future progresses and to contribute to the urban development in the areas that are in need of consumer goods services or those witnessing popular boom,” the company noted.
Al Meera opened its new branch in Umm Salal Ali in February, one of the previously announced five out of 14-store expansion phase to its network in Qatar. It also brought exceptional shopping experience to consumers in Al Wakrah (east) with the opening of its third store in the area.
The company’s expansion plans include the opening of new branches that serves students at Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, following the signing of contracts for the operation of a number of spaces at Education City.
Al Meera is set to sign a contract with Lusail Real Estate Development Company to operate and manage two community retail centres in Fox Hills and North Villas District to co-operate with local companies as well as remain close to consumers.
The company also signed a partnership with Msheireb Properties to bring the country’s leading retail brand to Msheireb Downtown Doha (MDD), at the project’s Galleria Mall.
The MDD branch will have a unique and modern design. It will be divided into three main sections: one for the supermarket, second for organic products, and third for a coffee shop for organic products.
Al Meera also negotiated with the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies to operate a supermarket to serve its students.
“Negotiations are also being undertaken with the Qatar Armed Forces and Ahmed Bin Mohamed Military College for the inauguration of a branch there,” Al Meera said.
The company added that it also plans to expand its network to reach 10 community malls spread across the country’s various regions by 2022.
