The total number of building permits issued in Qatar in March stood at 667, up 40.1% on February, monthly data released by the Ministry of Development Planning and
Statistics (MDPS) show.
Municipalities that have shown a significant increase in the number of building permits are Doha, Al Rayyan and Al Tha’ayen, MDPS said.
MDPS figures show that there has been an increase in aircraft movement at Hamad International Airport in March. The total number of arriving and departing aircraft reached 21,841, which shows a monthly increase of 12.4%.
As for passengers’ movement at Hamad International Airport, the total number of arrivals reached 1,605,000 passengers, while the total number of departures was 1,615,000 in March.
The total number of arrivals recorded an annual increase of 5.3%, while the total number of departures showed an annual rise of 4.9%, MDPS said.
In terms of Qatar’s population, MDPS said it reached more than 2.6mn at end of March 2017, up 5.2% on March 2016 (nearly 2.5mn).
MDPS statistics showed the total number of births registered in Qatar in March stood at 2,072. On the other hand, 184 death cases were registered in Qatar in March.
The total number of marriages was 370 in March 2017, whereas the total number of divorces was 105 in the same month.
The total number of registered vehicles reached 7,823 in March, MDPS said. This shows a
monthly increase of 25.7%.
The total number of traffic cases was 497 in March, up 2.5% on the previous month.
The total number of traffic violations registered was 163,538 in March, up 3.4% on the previous month (158,213).
The MDPS bulletin showed a monthly increase of 24.5% in electricity utilisation, reaching 2,540 GWh in March.
It showed a monthly decrease in total water consumption by 12.4%, with total water consumption falling to 44,775,000 cu m in March.
Total broad money supply (M2) reached QR518bn in March, up 0.2% on
February.
On the other hand, cash equivalents (including deposits) attained for QR753bn in March.
