El Jaish confirmed their place in their fourth straight Qatar Cup final after securing a last-gasp 3-2 win against the current QSL champions Lekhwiya.
“We showed lots of character to progress to the final of the Qatar Cup this season, and thankfully we were able to get a late win against Lekhwiya, the league champions this season we are now ready to win our third ever Qatar Cup,” the Qatar international said ahead of the showpiece final.
Despite enduring a frustrating season with El Jaish, Abubakar has vowed that his side are fully prepared to give their all in the final, a competition which historically El Jaish have done well in.
“We certainly are looking to make up for a league campaign in which we finished in fourth place. The Qatar Cup is the perfect opportunity for us to win a trophy and end the season on a high.”
“We have to respect our opponents Al Sadd who have done so well in the league this season. However, we are now in the final and have to focus on lifting the trophy for the third time. We must focus on ourselves in order to get the win,” added the 25 year old defender.
