Vodafone is “deeply committed” to Qatar and the company has invested QR1bn in the past 24 months alone in “ensuring a world-class network” in the country, said Ian Gray, chief executive officer.
This was in addition to launching a range of innovative products and services such as the Internet of Things (IoT) solutions, Gray said at a Qatar British Business Forum (QBBF) event at the W Doha Hotel here.
Gray shared his thoughts with business leaders at the QBBF luncheon stating that Vodafone was “one of the world’s largest” telecommunications companies, and one of the “most recognisable, and best-known British businesses.”
Operating in some 26 countries, partners with mobile networks in 49 more, and fixed broadband operations in 17 markets, Vodafone Qatar draws on the strength of the Vodafone Group to “bring the best of its global experience and most advanced technologies” to Qatar, as it does in all the countries in which it operates.
Gray said, “We will continue to deliver further innovative products and services and exceptional customer experience to our business customers in the country, helping them to achieve their strategic and commercial objectives. And continue to play our part as an active and engaged member of the business community alongside other members of the QBBF, helping to deliver the Qatar National Vision 2030 and enhancing the already strong ties that exist between Qatar and the UK.”
Emad Turkman, chairman, QBBF said, “We are delighted to have a business person with a calibre of Ian Gray addressing our members. Ian’s achievements in business life are an example for all our members to appreciate and follow. Having Vodafone in our luncheon demonstrates QBBF’s commitment to promote British businesses in Qatar.”
The QBBF, which is currently celebrating its 25th anniversary of operating in Qatar, promotes trade between the United Kingdom and Qatar. The forum is a flourishing, socially active organisation representing a broad membership across many industry sectors.
Focusing on assisting UK businesses based in Qatar through regular meetings and events, the QBBF now has more than five hundred individual members and is affiliated with nearly eighty different companies.
The QBBF offers a platform for effective networking and building long-lasting business relationships.
The QBBF’s monthly luncheon event provides its members with a perfect networking opportunity whilst authoritative guest speakers provide the audience with their own personal experiences of undertaking business in the country.
