Twin Tarsheed accolades for Qatar Foundation

Qatar Foundation (QF) has been honoured for its contributions to the success of Tarsheed, the National Programme for Conservation and Energy Efficiency of the Qatar General Electricity & Water Corp (Kahramaa).
Tarsheed completed the the first phase of five years on Monday. At the ceremony held at Kahramaa Awareness Park to mark the 5th Tarsheed anniversary celebrations HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani presented QF with two accolades.
QF’s partner university, Northwestern University in Qatar (NU-Q) took the first place in the ‘Academic’ category for the ‘Conserving Building Competition’, which recognises buildings that incorporate, support, and promote best practices in conservation of energy, water, and other natural resources. The building will be officially opened at a special dedication ceremony on May 1.
Additionally, QF was awarded ‘Best Renewable Energy Initiative’ for its use of solar panels in Education City.
QF Capital Projects’ executive director Jassim Telefat, who attended the awards ceremony, said “the awards demonstrate how QF is dedicated to sustainable infrastructural development, and continuously strives to utilise the latest technologies and energy solutions”.
“We have placed sustainability at the top of our agenda. And, through our unique initiatives, innovative technologies, and state-of-the-art infrastructure, we are working tirelessly to encourage the local community to become more environmentally aware and incorporate sustainability into their daily lives.”
The Tarsheed awards scheme celebrates exceptional companies and institutions in Qatar who prioritise the responsible consumption of water and electricity in an effort to preserve and enhance the country’s natural resources.
