The all-new Mazda CX-9, the turbocharged 3-row, 7-seater midsize SUV, has been winning awards across global markets – including the US, Canada and Australia.
A press statement from National Car Company (NCC), the sole agent of Mazda in Qatar, stressed that the vehicle is “artfully crafted for drivers, providing ample space for the family and abundant style for car enthusiasts”.
NCC launched the new Mazda CX-9 last October and the SUV is available at the Mazda showroom in Al Nasr. “Ever since the launch, the new Mazda CX9 has become an instant sales success with buyers engaged by its stylish design, premium interior, the fuel-efficient 2.5-litre direct-injection turbocharged petrol engine, the range of i-ACTIVSENSE safety technologies and its quiet drive,” the statement noted.
The CX-9 was named the 2017 Wheels Car of the Year (COTY), considered Australia’s “most prestigious motoring award”, in Melbourne recently.
Victory for the CX-9 made it eight Car of the Year wins for Mazda in total, the “second most successful maker” in COTY’s 54-year history. Also, for the second consecutive year, Mazda was the recipient of the Wheels Car of the Year title, with the brand-new CX-9 receiving the 2017 award. The recognition followed the Mazda MX-5 getting its third Wheels Car of the Year award when it won last year.
The 2017 CX-9 was named a winner of Autotrader’s 2017 Must Test Drive Award. The SUV was also named ‘Best Large Utility’ by MotorWeek, a stalwart in automotive television content, as part of the 2017 MotorWeek Drivers’ Choice Awards.
Meanwhile, the Mazda CX-9 won the Auto123.com award, ‘Car and Driver’ honour in Canada. A team of automobile journalists voted for the vehicles they consider the best in 17 categories and the Mazda CX9 beat its competition in the final race to the top in the mid-size SUV/minivan category.
The Mazda CX-9 was also recognised with the carsales.com.au Car of the Year award. In a comprehensive process, the hundreds of new vehicles released each year are shortlisted based on key lifestyle and segment criteria, driven and rated and then defined as ‘Recommended’ choices for consumers.
From there, experts from motoring.com.au overlay industry standard-setting data from Redbook.com.au and the wider carsales.com network to determine winners that define excellence, innovation, class-leading safety, performance and value for money. After this, plus a week of analysis, driving and debate, the Mazda CX-9 was crowned the 2016 Carsales Car of the Year.
