Jassim and Hamad bin Jassim Charitable Foundation has launched an industrial training centre in Dabul, Maharashtra province, India, at a cost of nearly QR3mn.
The centre, which was opened in the presence of the Foundation’s delegation along with representatives of the Indian government and the local authority, aims to enable thousands of poor people to gain access to technical education opportunities in four main areas: welding, electricity, mechanics and diesel mechanics.
The project, which has been implemented for 3 years, serves the poor craftsmen from the region with a capacity of 200 students per year.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Qatar’s ambassador to India, Mohammed bin Khater al-Khater, said this distinguished educational edifice comes within the framework of the distinguished and historical relations between the State of Qatar and India in different fields and would push the mutual cooperation to greater heights.
Bilateral relations between the State of Qatar and India have witnessed great development at all levels as well as the social and cultural interaction between the peoples of the two countries, he added. In this context, the ambassador stressed Qatar’s keenness to perform humanitarian work it in its national, regional and global dimensions.
The State of Qatar has a leading role in this field, he said.
For his part, Saeed Muthkar al-Hajri, Board Member and CEO of Jassim and Hamad bin Jassim Charitable Foundation said the Industrial Training Center is specialised in training and qualifying specialised technical and professional cadres.
The centre will prepare generations capable of keeping abreast of recent developments, with solid knowledge and a clear vision of using the latest technical developments to pave the way for a promising future for them and their families and to enhance their opportunities in the labour market, he said.
He pointed out that this region was selected to establish this project because there are a number of companies, major factories, shipyards and energy companies.
The centre is scheduled to be operational in July, in cooperation with the Indian government and Kokan Sarfengan Foundation, he concluded.
