Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar’s (VCUQatar) Community Education Programme has opened registration for its late spring community education programme and summer camp.

Courses are taught by accomplished local and international instructors and are open to the general public who are interested in expanding their knowledge of art, design and craft.

The current set of over 45 courses include photography, filming and digital film editing, sketching, drawing, painting and printmaking, marbling and ebru, silver jewellry making, hat making, fashion design and illustration, fashion dress and abaya making, interior design, event design, graphic and computer design, Islamic pattern construction, and Arabic calligraphy.

The six-week programme will run from April 9 to May 20. Unless otherwise noted, all the community classes are open to both women and men aged 15 and above, and are taught in English at VCUQatar’s building.

The 2017 summer camp for children and high school students includes 16 different art and design courses. The programmes vary in length : one week for the smaller children, and two weeks for teenagers. The “Design Intensive” course has been specifically developed for high school seniors who are considering a creative career.

Classes are held in the mornings from Sunday to Thursday at VCUQatar, starting from July 9 to August 3.
