RasGas and Chiyoda Almana have announced the “achievement” of 15mn man-hours without a lost-time incident (LTI).
The two companies have “steadily worked toward the safety milestone” since signing their engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCm) long-term services contract in 2009.
RasGas chief operations officer Fahad Mohamed al-Khater said, “We are proud of the achievement we celebrate today with Chiyoda Almana. It is the result of the mutual commitment of both our companies to the safety of our teams and people. RasGas has a well-established reputation for our safety culture, and it is imperative that our contractors are as unequivocal as we are in ensuring safety is a top priority.”
Madoka Koda, managing director, Chiyoda Almana, received a RasGas award in commemoration of the achievement and thanked those whose daily commitment had made it possible.
“I would like to share this celebration with the project team members from both Chiyoda Almana and RasGas. They have been outstanding in their day-to-day efforts to keep safety a top priority during project execution. This excellent safety record emphasises a high quality of work, and we remain committed to maintaining this record in order to achieve reliable delivery for our clients.” Under the terms of their contract, Chiyoda Almana provides EPCm services to RasGas’ onshore and offshore operations, including a total of seven liquefied natural gas (LNG) plants and three gas processing plants, helium plants and other facilities operated by the energy company at Ras Laffan Industrial City.
