LuLu Hypermarket Group is holding “Tunisia Week 2017” for the first time in Qatar to explore the food and food habits of Tunisia.
The festival was jointly inaugurated by Tunisian ambassador to Qatar, Salah al-Salhi, and diplomats from the embassies of Morocco, Algeria, Libya, Sudan, and Palestine at LuLu Hypermarket, Al Gharafa, in the presence of LuLu Group International director Mohamed Althaf, other senior officials from LuLu Qatar, and dignitaries from various organisations.
In a press statement, the company said the festival has been organised in line with the World Food Expo 2017 and Qatar International Food Festival at all LuLu Hypermarket outlets in Qatar.
The objective is to celebrate the culinary heritage of Tunisia and promote it among the local community as well as a large cross-section of expatriate communities hailing from various countries, the statement said.
LuLu, as a major retailer of the region, organises festivals every year that promote the food and food products of various countries.
LuLu Group is the largest retail chain in the Middle East, Egypt, India, Malaysia and Indonesia, operating 133 hypermarkets and 15 shopping malls with an annual turnover of $6.2bn globally.
The group has a vast organisational structure of more than 40,000 employees from 37 nationalities.
The group has a network of export distribution centres in 24 countries, including major facilities recently opened in the UK’s Birmingham, New Jersey in the US, and Madrid, Spain.
