Doha Marketing Services Company (DOMASCO), an Al-Futtaim company, is getting ready for the annual motorcycling event that will kick off tomorrow with the Qatar MotoGP 2017 at the Losail International Circuit.
As part of an event to celebrate the annual event, three-time and current reigning MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez and his highly acclaimed teammate, Dani Pedrosa, visited the Honda flagship showroom where they interacted with MotoGP fans, Honda customers and members of the local media while posing for photos and signing autographs.
Members of the Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) were also present to highlight Honda’s racing efforts and high-performance engineering.
The 24-year-old rider Marc Marquez, who has raced in MotoGP for Honda’s factory team Repsol Honda since 2013, is the youngest rider ever to be crowned king of the premier class. After his win in 2016, Marc brought his tally to five world championship titles over all classes in a career spanning just nine years till date.
After dominating the 125cc and 250cc categories with three consecutive World Championship titles from 2003 to 2005, Dani Pedrosa has become one of the most successful riders in Honda’s history and has achieved more podiums for the Japanese manufacturer than any other rider, with a total of 144.
Dani has won at least one race per year for the last 15 seasons on his way to becoming the 8th most successful rider in history. Dani has had 29 MotoGP wins and 52 across all categories.
Honda has won the constructor’s world championship a record-breaking 22 times in the Moto GP premier class.
During this special event, DOMASCO also unveiled the 2017 Africa Twin CRF1000 DCT and the all-new 2017 CBR1000RR. The long awaited new CBR, which celebrates its 25th anniversary, is a superbike designed to dominate in the most important category of all: rider satisfaction.
The 2017 model has been totally redesigned, with new engines, chassis, suspension and bodywork.
It is substantially lighter, narrower, more powerful and faster than its predecessors and it gives a degree of connection unlike anything in the class.
The chassis is more responsive, and the bike features a full LED lighting package as well as Honda’s first Superbike throttle-by-wire system.
The new CBR1000 will come in three distinct model options, including the RR, and for the true racing enthusiast, the SP and SP2 which will be produced in limited quantities. The all-new 2017 CBR1000RR will be available in Qatar soon.
Inheriting the ‘go anywhere’ spirit of its predecessors, the Africa Twin CRF1000 DCT packs an innovative and powerful parallel twin-cylinder engine into a lightweight, agile chassis ready for true adventure both on and off road.
The unique DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission) version features the standard manual mode – allowing the rider to operate gear shifts through triggers on the left handlebar – and two automatic modes.
Managing director of DOMASCO Faisal Sharif welcomed the two Honda riders to the showroom.
He said: “We are delighted to welcome Marc Marquez, Dani Pedrosa and members of HRC team to our showroom.
It has become our tradition to organise this annual gathering to bring closer together these champion riders with biking enthusiasts from the community.
“We are also delighted to introduce the 2017 Africa Twin CRF1000 DCT and the 2017 CBR 1000RR. The bikes reflect the qualities of these champion riders and are designed to provide ultimate comfort to the rider. We welcome all biking enthusiasts to visit our showroom and get a feel of these bikes firsthand.”
