The Pakistan embassy hosted a grand reception yesterday to mark the Pakistan Day. It was attended by a large number of Qatari dignitaries, members of the Diplomatic Corps and prominent Pakistani expatriates.
HE the Minister of Justice Dr Hassan Lahdan Saqr al-Mohannadi was the chief guest. HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Mohamed Abdul Wahed Ali al-Hammadi, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs Secretary General Dr Ahmad Hassan al-Hamadi were also present.
The ceremony began with the national anthems of both Qatar and Pakistan. It was followed by a brief speech by Pakistan ambassador Shahzad Ahmad who welcomed the guests and highlighted the historical significance of 23rd March.
He particularly thanked HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani for providing an excellent atmosphere to the diplomatic staff from Pakistan to enable them to perform their duties with dignity. A cake-cutting ceremony followed the speech.
During the ceremony, guests from all walks of life interacted with each other and congratulated officers and staff of the Pakistan embassy on their National Day. They expressed happiness and exchanged views with the ambassador and other officers of the embassy. On the occasion, Pakistanis expressed their solidarity and love for their homeland. The guests were treated to a host of traditional Pakistani dishes.
Celebrations of Pakistan Day will be held all over the world today by Pakistani embassies and cultural and community organisations.
