The Open Volleyball Competition organised by Kaski Ideal Society (KIS) was held at the stadium of Khalid Cement in Sanaiya 41 on March 16 and 17. Two organising and 15 other volleyball teams participated in the contest. More than 300 people watched the tournament. KIS chairman Man Prasad Rana Magar and co-ordinator Jiwan Kumar Sunar said the competition was aimed to bring Nepali youths closer to each. Fewa Cultural Family (FCF) performed in between the matches.
The teams participating in the tournament were: Mona Qatar, Myagdi Pun Club, Rukum Service Society, Baglung Service Society, Tamu Society, Kaski Pokhara, Bishwakarma Society, Syanja Jyagdi, Rising Nepal, Baglung Rangkhani Service Society, Burtibang Sports Club, New Abun Khola, Tamu Plehu Association, Mid-Western Youth Club, Redko International, and two KIS teams.
Kaski Pokhara beat Mona Qatar in the final to win the tournament. Kumar Tharu of Mona Qatar was declared the best player of the tournament. The top two finishing teams were given certificates and medals. Text and photos by Usha Wagle Gautam
