Qatar University Library (QUL) hosted the Library Awareness Day 2017 on Sunday. The aim is to raise student awareness on its various services and resources such as online e-resources and digital and print books and research journals.
Organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Sports, the event was part of QUL mission to nurture QU’s academic and research aspirations and to support the community’s educational and professional needs.
The event was attended by QU vice president for Academic Affairs Dr Hassan Alfadala, QUL director Dr Imad Bachir, Ministry of Culture and Sports’ Publications and Press Department director Hamad Mohamed al-Zakiba, Qatari Writer engineer Ibrahim bin Hashem al-Sada, assistant professor at QU College of Arts and Sciences Arabic Language Department Dr Noora Mohamed Faraj al-Khanji, and QUL section head of public services Saeeda Abdul Karim Y al-Sheerawi, as well as QU faculty, staff, and students.
The agenda included a presentation on QUL services delivered by assistant reference librarian Dalal al-Hajiri and assistant circulation librarian Shamsa al-Sada, and discussion sessions with Dr Noora al-Khanji and engineer Ibrahim al-Sada, in which they highlighted the library’s role in their writing career and their publications.
Awards were distributed to the students who had borrowed the maximum items from the library. On the sidelines of the event was an exhibition for database providers.
