Eight of Qatar’s highest quality projects estimated at $1.2bn have won national honours in the 2017 MEED Quality Awards for Projects.

Now in its seventh year, MEED Quality Awards for Projects “not only recognise the construction element of project delivery but also consider the value and quality of a project throughout its entire life cycle, from the design concept through to engineering and construction and its wider contribution to society and to the environment.”
The eight winning projects from Qatar are ASTAD’s Northwestern University in Qatar Project (Education project of the year); Al Malki Trading & Contracting’s Dukhan Tunnel Project (Small project of the year); Galfar Al Misnad Engineering & Contracting’s EPIC for route survey, design, construction, installation and hookup of oil, gaslift flowline, PWI spur lines in Dukhan field project (Oil and gas project of the year) and Six Construct’s Qatar Gabbro Terminal Project (Bulk material handling system), which has won the ‘Logistics project of the year’.

"The GCC projects market continues to be a key driver for regional growth, and part of its success in contributing to economic development in the region has been its continuing focus on developing high quality projects that generate jobs, contribute to the efficient delivery of infrastructure and utility services as well as ensuring sustainability by incorporating safety and environment-friendly measures in project development and execution. We commend the national winners for their commitment to project excellence and hope that their unwavering commitment to quality will inspire others to follow their lead as more projects are developed and completed in the future," says Richard Thompson, Editorial director, MEED.
Three other winners were named Supplier of the Year, including Almajdouie Logistics Company, Hempel Paints Qatar and MVP Tech.
As well as competing for the GCC award in their specific sectors, the national winners are in with a chance to win the title of the ‘MEED quality project of the year’.
