The Early Intervention Programme at Rumailah Hospital’s Child Development Center, Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), organised a training workshop for the families of its patients on the proper use of car safety seats for children with special needs.
The event, held in collaboration with the Hamad International Training Center (HITC), included approximately 30 family members of the centre’s young patients.
Shameem Ahmed, programme co-ordinator at Rumailah Hospital’s Child Development Center, stated that the workshop demonstrated HMC’s commitment to providing the safest, most effective and most compassionate care to each patient through spreading awareness among parents on practices that will lead to the safety and well-being of children.
The workshop, conducted by seven expert technicians from HITC, included teaching participants how to select the right car seat based on their child’s age, weight, and height. Ahmed stressed the importance of the use of car safety seats, noting that road traffic vehicle accidents are the major cause of death among children aged one to 13 years.
“Placing children in proper safety car seats in the back seat of vehicles minimises the risk of injury to the head, neck, and spine,” he added.
