PM launches QDG Training

HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani yesterday launched the Qatar Digital Government (QDG) Training Programme, a new strategic initiative developed under the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoTC) to improve the information and communication technology (ICT) skills of government employees.
Through specialised, accredited e-government training, the QDG Training Programme aims to enhance the efficiency and transparency of government services in line with the Qatar Digital Government 2020 Strategy, the MoTC has said in a press statement.
Training is available to government professionals currently working in ICT and delivered through partnerships with various public and private entities, which are internationally recognised as being leaders in the ICT field. “The programme will ensure Qatar’s readiness for the digital age,” the statement noted.
The programme is being implemented in collaboration with a number of partners from the government sector, including the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs and Community College of Qatar (CCQ). Partners from the private sector include Microsoft and Cisco, among others.
The programme comes as part of the ministry’s efforts to support the implementation of QDG initiatives.
The launch came on the third and final day of Qitcom 2017, the fourth edition of Qatar’s information and communication technology exhibition and conference organised by the ministry at Qatar National Convention Centre under the theme “Qatar towards a Smart Future”.
HE the Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Seif Ahmed al-Sulaiti said, “We are glad for the launch of the Qatar Digital Government Training Programme as we aim to train and provide qualified national leaders to ensure the sustainability of QDG projects and put its strategic plan into action.
“The programme will be training and providing national professionals in this domain and making them available for government entities.”
To this effect, the working group in charge of the implementation of the programme “continues working to attract more partners in the fields of technology and training to enrich the content in order to fulfil the current and future needs of all government entities,” the statement adds.
