An Indian jeweller, whose repertoire includes precious stones and white and yellow gold jewellery, caught the attention of many serious collectors at the Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition (DJWE).
At the region’s premier jewel expo that concluded yesterday, Gems & Jewels Palace from Rajasthan’s Jodhpur garnered a lot of interest among the region’s jewellery patrons.
Owned and operated by Pannu Bansali, a reputable designer, the showcase of the company had an array of exquisite ornaments made of diamonds and precious stones as well as gold.
“Over the last five years, we have gauged the interests and tastes of local buyers and designed jewellery to suit the requirements of the region’s market,” Bhansali told Gulf Times from her booth in the Alfardan Jewellery.
Lauding local customers, especially youngsters, she said they make their buying decisions on their own and were not influenced by any prevailing trends.
“Even the new generation of Qatari customers has a penchant for traditional designs and patterns, especially while selecting necklaces,” said Bhansali, whose jewellery collections have featured in Bollywood  hits like Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela and Jodhaa Akbar, among others.
“We have many classic and contemporary designs, featuring all kinds of precious stones that an ardent customer could think of,” she said.
Local patrons are becoming more demanding, said the jeweller. This time, she exhibited at least three pieces whose prices exceeded QR1mn.
In three decades of business, the company has established itself as a major player in both antique jewellery and modern ornaments.
