Fifty One East, Qatar’s prominent department store, is contributing to a distinct central exhibition on display at the ongoing Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition at Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre.
Besides showing unique archive pieces from Boucheron and an exclusive necklace from Chanel, two of the most respected jewellery designers since the 19th century, Fifty One East is also set to give exhibition-goers an insight to the milestones from its history with a photographic gallery that captures many of the company’s firsts.
Fifty One East’s selection for the DJWE’s central exhibition includes a unique display of archive pieces from Boucheron shown for the first time outside of Paris dating from 1902-1954.
Such pieces include exquisite gold and diamond brooches, powder case with a mirror inside, a square yellow gold lady wristwatch, a purse made of twelve articulated panels and a lipstick holder in pierced pink gold.
The central exhibition will also include the exclusive ‘Constellation du Lion’ necklace from Chanel’s Sous le Signe du Lion collection, which represents a stunning tribute to the lion, the sign of Gabrielle Chanel that became an emblem for the maison.
‘Constellation du Lion’ is a spectacular necklace laden with white gold, yellow diamonds, diamonds and rutilated quartz.
Fifty One East will complement their display pavilion with a retrospective photo gallery, taking visitors on a journey of the significant moments in the company’s history such as when Qatar’s first department store in 1949, Modern Home (the previous brand name of Fifty One East), was established. It also marks other momentous occasions such as bringing the first Rolex to Qatar in 1951.
