The weekly Cabinet meeting, chaired by HE the Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani, took steps to issue a draft law on public schools after being briefed on Advisory Council's recommendation.

Giving details of Wednesday's meeting, HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud said that the Cabinet reviewed topics on the agenda and took a number of decisions and measures.

The Cabinet approved the following draft decrees:

1- A draft decree licensing Economic Zones Company (Manateq) to usufruct lands of the project of logistics region in the North (Ruwais) and Al Khoor industrial area project.

2- A draft decree licensing Economic Zones Company (Manateq) to usufruct the rest of lands of Birkat Al Awamer.

3- A draft decree licensing Economic Zones Company (Manateq) to usufruct the lands of logistics industrial area in (Lerkiya-Al Karaana).

The Cabinet also approved the following:

1. A draft agreement between the governments of Qatar and Tajikistan on the avoidance of double taxation and prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income and capital.

2. A draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for co-operation in the field of environmental protection between the government of Qatar and Georgia.

3. A draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for co-operation in the field of culture between the governments of Qatar and Azerbaijan.

4. A draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for co-operation in the fields of youth and sports between the governments of Qatar and Azerbaijan.

5. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for co-operation in the field of the protection of endangered species of wild fauna and flora and the conservation of their natural environment between the governments of Qatar and Azerbaijan.

6. A draft protocol to amend an air transport agreement between the governments of Qatar and Azerbaijan.

Then, the Cabinet reviewed the following topics and took the appropriate decisions:

1. A letter by HE the Minister of Municipality and Environment on a draft law amending some provisions of the Law No.(10) of 1987 on the State's public and private property.

2. A memo by HE the Minister of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs on the outcomes of the 33rd Arab Housing and Construction Ministers Council, held in Riyadh in December 2016.

3. A memorandum by HE the Minister of Administrative Development and Labour and Social Affairs on the outcomes of the Ninth Meeting of the Global Forum on Migration and Development held in Dhaka in December 2016.

 

Minister briefs Cabinet on land supply

HE the Minister of Municipality and Environment and president of the Ministerial Group for the budget for the allocation and reclamation of new lands, Mohamed bin Abdullah al-Rumaihi, gave a detailed presentation at  Cabinet meeting on the current status of land supply for various sectors.

HE al-Rumaihi's presentation covered the status of supply of land for stores, logistics, economic, industrial and housing areas, agricultural complexes, central markets and livestock markets, tourism investment sites, commercial, administrative and security sites, mosques, education, health, transportation, agriculture and fisheries sectors.

He also briefed the attendees on the efforts being carried out by the Ministry of Municipality and Environment to provided these lands.

The Cabinet stressed the need to determine the extent of the provision of budgets and financial allocations for the implementation of various projects on their allocated lands, and to co-ordinate in this regard with the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) and Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa).
