Estimated to represent a combined value of QR18.20mn ($5mn), the masterpieces that make up the Swiss maison’s line-up -- in partnership with Alfardan Jewellery -- at the ongoing Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition (DJWE) are crafted in a variety of materials ranging from titanium and tantalum to steel and carbon composites, instead of the more normal gold.
Highlighted in the Swiss maison's exhibits will be “exceptional timepieces”, including the Neo-Tourbillon with Three Bridges, Minute Repeater Tourbillon, Constant Escapement LM and the Tri-Axial Tourbillon, “all of which have attracted rave reviews” from the haute horological community, according to a press statement.
Each of the timepieces draws heavily on the maison’s “rich tradition of innovation and creativity, precision workmanship and unique engineering” and these are all collector's items in their own way.
“These complications present a unique look at fine watchmaking and attain heights of haute horology in their own way,” the statement noted.
Housed in a 48mm titanium case, the master craftsmen of Girard-Perregaux have put together a complication -- the Tri-Axial Tourbillon -- that combines the tourbillon in three different axes. This watch is available in a limited edition of 20 pieces only.
As for the Neo-Tourbillon, Girard-Perregaux keeps all the links with the heritage code in this version, while at the same time introducing some crucial refinements and tweaks in a “memorable refresh of an icon”.

The Constant Escapement LM marks a “revolutionary innovation of constant energy”. With the launch of this watch in 2013, Girard-Perregaux revealed the result of years of research and development. It is considered one of the leading technical developments in the industry and has won the Golden Scorpion Award (Aiguille d'Or) at the prestigious Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Geneve.
