The latest edition of Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition, one of the most premier and glamorous annual expos of the region attracting scores of affluent clients from within the country and abroad, is set to open at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC) on Monday afternoon.

The six-day 14th Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition 2017 (DJWE), held under the patronage of HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani, has attracted more than 50 exhibitors and over 400 brands, a vast majority from outside the region.

The expo is the first in the annual calendar of such mega events, spread across Asia, Middle East, Far East, Europe and the US.

Doha event showcases a multitude of exclusive collections of gemstones, high jewellery and finest timepieces, under the theme ‘Once upon a time… luxury’.

The expo organisers expect a large number of visitors, mainly families in the five days starting from tomorrow, when the event opens to the public. Their hope is that the connoisseurs of limited edition premium watches and jewellery would continue to patronise the show as in each of the 13 previous editions.

Apart from the regulars, many of whom have been participating for several years now, every year the exhibition features a number of first timers as well. Some of such brands have been successful in carving a niche for themselves among the region's affluent and elite.

This year renowned clock-experts Objectif Horlogerie from Paris, participating in DJWE for the first time, is holding watch-making workshops for enthusiasts.

Harcourt Studio, another first timer, is offering complimentary glamourous black and white portraits of DJWE visitors in the privacy of their on-site photo studio.

This year’s exhibition also features an initiative to showcasing creations from some of the emerging young Qatari designers.

Qatar’s premier jewellers Alfardan Jewellery, Al Majed Jewellery, Al Muftah Jewellery, Ali Bin Ali group, Amiri Gems, Blue Salon and Fifty One East would have their independent pavilions, featuring a large number of visitors stalls.

The exhibition is organised by Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) and delivered by Auditoire. The entrance, as usual is free but the event is reserved for those above 12 years.
