James Davon scored a game-high 28 points and Leon Macklin chipped in with 26 as El Jaish thrashed Al Rayyan 86-55 in the Qatar Basketball League yesterday.
Hani Abilmona also excelled for the winners with 20 points, 18 of them coming from three-pointers, as Jaish swatted aside the defending champions.
El Jaish’s overwhelming superiority was never in any doubt as they got off to an impressive start, notching up a 13-3 lead just after five minutes. From thereon it was El Jaish all the way, leading 29-15, 39-26, 69-42 after the first three quarters before completing a comprehensive 31-point victory at the end.
For Al Rayyan, Marcus Bell top scored with 18, while Tanguy Ngombo had 16 and Hassan Mohamed 10.
Today, Al Arabi play Al Ahli, while Al Wakrah meet Qatar SC.
